What an incredible turn out we had on Sunday, 20th September at the Cowes Community Club! The sun was shining, the energy was high, and the local community came together to make our Sporting Opportunities Sports Fun Day an absolute triumph. Thanks to everyone’s enthusiasm and support, we raised almost £900 to support our ongoing activities!
From start to finish, the grounds were buzzing with excitement. Visitors browsed a wonderful variety of stalls, hunted for treasures at the bric-a-brac table, and tried their luck at the tombola and raffle. The competitive spirit was alive and well on the pitch with some brilliant football matches, while younger guests enjoyed getting transformed at the face-painting booth.
One of the undisputed highlights and biggest crowd pleasers was the "Soak the Coach" stall, where plenty of people paid for the privilege of drenching their favourite coaches! A huge shout out goes to the courage of visitors who volunteered for the live leg waxing (ouch indeed!). The atmosphere was further brightened by a visit from our local Fire Brigade, whose presence was a hit with kids and adults alike. And, of course, no fun day is complete without sweet treats, the cake and drinks stall kept everyone refreshed and smiling all afternoon.
Celebrating Our Special Olympians
The day was also a wonderful opportunity to recognise the incredible achievements from earlier this summer. Summer, our Athlete’s Representative to the Committee, took to the stage to present special gifts of appreciation to our amazing coaches for all their dedication and hard work at the Summer Special Olympics in August. Their commitment to our athletes continues to inspire us all.
A Grand Finale to Remember
Just when we thought the day couldn't get any better, our coaches delivered an unforgettable surprise finale. Stepping out onto the stage in full costume, our very own coaching team performed as a Spice Girls tribute band! It was a hilarious, heartwarming, and brilliantly entertaining end to a fantastic day.
