Sporting Opportunities vs Winchester Mini Competition 2 July 2025 – Posted in: Competitions

Firstly we would like to thank Clare, Nick, Pat, Maureen, Claire & Ed from the Winchester team for travelling to the IOW and braving the disastrous road diversions (only on the IOW!) and helping toward a fantastic day of games. Alongside our coaches and athletes we eventually got going with some very close fought matches over several hours.
With a light cooked lunch to break up the day we concluded the day with a fantastic final.
Due to an uneven amount of athletes on the day, coaches brilliantly re-organised one of the teams as a mixed team from both areas, with Fleur & Kaitlin (from SOIW) and Claire & Ed (from Winchester) teaming up.
This mixed team made it to the final, eventually winning & raising the coveted trophy high in the air with a sense of great achievement.
Having held the trophy for the photographs, Fleur & Kaitlin decided, as it had been such a great day, that it would only be fair for Claire & Ed to return to Winchester with the trophy under their arm and display it on there own turf!!
Would also like to thank Beki, William, Michael, Kevin, Ruth, Andy, Ross, Sarah, Anna Rosa, Amelia, Charlie,Darren, Damien, Amber, Ben & Eloise, our atheletes and also our coaches, Gina, Jane, Gill, Ursula & Ian for helping to make it a memorable day for spectators. Well done all!
